A Master's degree is a graduate degree and usually requires 90-120 ECTS points. This Master's degree programme requires 120 ECTS points.

Overview

The space industry is experiencing a period of massive growth and diversification, both in terms of technological advancements and market dynamics. The Specialised Master's programme in Space Systems offers students the opportunity to enter this dynamic environment.

This programme places particular value on diversity of educational background, to combine a strong teaching of engineering skills with a deep understanding of scientific and economic motivations of space exploration. Students will learn together in three dedicated core courses, while elective courses include all of earth and planetary science, physics, mechanical and electrical engineering, and geodesy. Students will use the skills acquired in the first two semesters for an extended case study of a space mission, spacecraft or an instrument in space, evaluated by domain experts from ETH, space agencies and industry to become accustomed to the formal review process of space projects. 

Specialised deep tracks

By selecting one of the specialised deep tracks students define the main area of their educational path. A tutoring system is designed to ensure students receive the optimal support in setting up their personalised learning agreements.

Conditions d’admission

  • The specialised Master's programme in Space Systems is open to Bachelor's students from engineering, natural or system-oriented science.
  • Admission may be subject to additional requirements based on previous education to guarantee that students attain comparable levels of academic proficiency, irrespective of their backgrounds.

Doktorat / PhD

(Dr. sc. ETH Zurich) The PhD comprises independent research work and other academic achievements. It generally takes three to four years and is usually combined with employment as an assistant at ETH. Admission requires an ETH Master's degree or an equivalent diploma from another university and the willingness of a lecturer to supervise the PhD thesis.
