Le Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) est une formation postgrade donnée par les hautes écoles et elle équivaut à au moins 10 crédits ECTS.

Le Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) est une formation postgrade donnée par les hautes écoles et elle équivaut à au moins 60 crédits ECTS.

CAS Programme

5 compulsory modules:

  • Core Course on the History of the Ecumenical Movement
  • Workshop on Intercultural Bible Study
  • Workshop on Practical Theology
  • Ecumenical Study Visits
  • Intensive Thematic Seminar

+ One module chosen out of the following:

  • Ecumenical Biblical Hermeneutics
  • Ecumenical Missiology
  • Ecumenical Social Ethics
  • Ecumenical Theology

MAS Programme

10 modules:

Objectives

CAS

  • Study the issues at stake in the ecumenical movement through an interdisciplinary approach linking theory and practice
  • Understand the nature of the ecumenical studies as well as their place in a local, national and international society
  • Strengthen knowledge on ecumenical biblical hermeneutics, ecumenical missiology, ecumenical social ethics and ecumenical theology
  • Understand the past, present and future challenges of the ecumenical debate
  • Become aware of interdisciplinary approach of the ecumenical studies
  • Find constructive solutions linking theory to practice
  • Integrate in an ecumenical reflection

MAS

  • Provide a specialised post-graduate academic programme for theologians who seek to deepen their knowledge in the field of ecumenical studies
  • Give an opportunity for an academic reflection focusing on research within a scrutiny of already gained professional experience and enable a multiplication and a differentiated analysis of cutting edge issues preoccupying the ecumenical fellowship

Conditions d’admission

Admission criteria

  • CAS - University bachelor’s degree certificate in Christian theology, or in a closely related discipline.
  • MAS - For students having completed a university Master's degree, preferably in Christian theology or in a closely related discipline.

Audience

  • CAS - Theologian, pastor and professional of other disciplines with a suitable level of theological literacy 
  • MAS - Lay or ordained person who has completed a university Master’s degree, preferably in Christian Theology or in a closely related discipline and who is interested in studying ecumenism at university level

Coûts

  • CAS: CHF 11'350.-
  • MAS: CHF 24'500.-

CAS in Ecumenical Studies (25 ECTS credits).
MAS in Ecumenical Studies (60 ECTS credits).

Diploma delivered jointly by University of Geneva, Ecumenical Institute of Bossey.
